Room 1 : Buddha amulet in resin 8.9 x 10 x 3.5 cm

My mum gave me a Thai Buddha amulet before I moved to the United Kingdom three years ago. It is a Thai Buddhist-blessed item. It is used to colect money to help fund temple activities. A Thai Buddhist monk will pres- ent an amulet as a “gift” to Buddhists who pay money or make donations to the temple. The amulets are no longer regarded a “gift,” but rather a “tool” for increasing luck in numerous aspects of life. The locals use amulets to improve their marriage, fortune, health, love, and relationships. My moth- er used to take me to the temple when I was young, and every time I went there, I was blessed by a monk, who always handed me a Buddha amulet. He advised me that every time I get terrified of something at night, I should keep it with me, and the fear will go away. I was so young, and I believed anything at the time, whether you believe it or not. I always have them with me when I’m fearful, and it helps in some manner that I can’t explain, but it makes me feel more at comfortable. So this item is always associated with me in a way that brings me comfort.
